Many are already looking forward to Metal Gear Solid V, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Halo 5 and Assassin’s Creed Syndicate coming out this year, but people should probably be just as excited for all of these indie games also coming out this year.

Summary: The game is basically the spiritual successor to Mega Man, with similar gameplay and character design.


Hyper Light Drifter

Summary: The game is a 2D action RPG inspired by classic 8-bit and 16-bit games. The game features some of the coolest pixel art you will ever see.

Summary: Adrift, or ADR1FT, is a first person exploration game that features the story of an astronaut stranded in space after a terrible accident.

Summary: 'Owlboy' is a 2D platformer/action-adventure game with incredible pixel-art graphics.

Summary: 'Below' is a top-down adventure game that focuses on player exploration. The game is similar to roguelikes with permadeath and difficult gameplay.

Summary: Not much is known about 'Rime', but the game looks like a cross between 'The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker' and 'Ico.' And that alone is something to be excited about.


Super Time Force Ultra

Platform(s): Available on PC and Mac now, PS4 and PS Vita versions coming. Super Time Force (not Ultra) was released on Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Summary: The game is a side-scrolling shooter with rewind and time manipulation gameplay mechanics.

No Man's Sky

Summary: A procedurally generated open universe that will focus on exploration. Not too much is known about gameplay, but the graphics look incredible and the concept is a dream come true.

Summary: 'Volume' is top-down stealth game with obvious inspirations from 'Metal Gear Solid', especially the VR missions. The developer previously made the incredible Thomas Was Alone, so hopes are high for this one.

The Witness

Summary: 'Reset' is a single-player game focused on environment and narrative. The game features a unique game mechanic in which you can travel back in time to solve puzzles with yourself.


The Forest

Release: Steam early access available now, full release on PC and PS4 unannounced 

Summary: A survival horror game taking place in, you guessed it, a forest. Explore and build during the day, and defend your base at night.


Everyone's Gone To The Rapture

Developer: The Chinese Room 

Release: Q2/Q3 2015 

Summary: The game is a post-apocalyptic game unlike anything you've ever seen. It is a calm serene world with exploration and story at the forefront.
