Colossos, Germany

Located in Heide Park in Soltau, Niedersachsen, the Colossos is the tallest wooden roller coaster in the world at 197 feet. The coaster has been operating since 2001. It boasts a scream-inducing drop of 159 feet and has a top speed of 75 miles per hour.

T Express, South Korea

This second-tallest wooden roller coaster at 184 feet is located at Everland amusement park in Yong-in City. The T Express is South Korea’s first wooden coaster and boasts the second steepest drop in the world among all the wooden coasters. It has been operating since 2008. It has a heart-stopping 159-foot drop and travels at 65miles per hour.

El Toro, United States

Located at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey, El Toro opened in 2006 and is the third tallest wooden coaster in the world at a height of 181 feet. It has a dizzying maximum drop of 176 feet and a maximum speed of 70 miles per hour.

Goliath, United States

Located at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Illinois, it just opened this year with a height of 165 feet. The coaster boasts a terror-filled 180-foot drop and speeds up to 72 miles per hour. The ride has set three records for wooden coasters with drop, speed and steepest drop. The ride has two inversions and lasts all of one hundred seconds.

The Voyage, United States

Located at Holiday World amusement park in Santa Claus, Indiana, the coaster opened in 2006 with a height of 163 feet. The ride has five tunnels and is meant to elicit the feeling of riding on a sailing ship.

Mean Streak, United States

Located at Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio, the wooden roller coaster stands at a height of 161 feet. It has been in operation since 1991, making it the oldest on this list. The ride boasts a maximum drop of 155 feet and travels at 65 miles per hour.

This wooden roller coaster is located at Knight Valley amusement park in Shenzhen, Guangdong. It stands at 147 feet tall and has been in operation since 2011. It is China’s second wooden-constructed roller coaster and travels at speeds up to 61 miles per hour.

Located at Mt. Olympus Theme Park in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, the Hades 360 has a height of 136 feet with a maximum drop of 140 feet. It opened in 2005 and has a rare 360 degree roll, a 90-degree banked turn, a 110-degree banked turn and a top speed of 60 miles per hour.

Wodan Timbur Coaster, Germany

Located at Europa-Park in Rust, Baden-Wurttemberg, the wooden coaster has a height of 131 feet and opened in 2012. It is the first wooden coaster in Europa-Park and is named for and themed after Norse mythology.
