For many, Catholicism and Christianity are the same, but they're not. Here're some of the differences between them you may not have noticed before.

I read this article out of an interest to see what Catholics actually believe. I feel I can sum up very simply the comments people have written ....we are called to follow the example of Jesus which is to love....we will never reach a lost world with the love of God if we continue to criticise, judge and condem people for their different beliefs or lifestyles....that's Up to God not us. ...we LOVE regardless of our opinions. An excellent book to read is called searching for Sunday by Rachel held Evans..

I believe Im a good person and try to live my life as a good person..and raising my son to be a good person..ive asked questions..about Christian vs Catholic...ive been told by some..that they are only labels..its what is in your heart and soul..so..someone..please explain to me..why I should be labeled as a christian or catholic..?? Im a faithful person..i pray daily..thats enuf for me..i feel God hears your prayers anywhere ..u are..

@ : No, they are not just labels. Again, the bible doesn't teach that we should pray to Mary or the saints. They are dead. we are not to pray to the dead, but to Christ. So it is not the same as asking for someone who is living to pray for us. The pope is not infallible, only Christ. Religious traditions and sacraments will not save you, nor does baptism, only FAITH alone, but with faith comes with good works. In other words, one who shows faith in Christ would obviously be doing good works, but good works alone does not save. These teachings are considered a hearsy. So there is a difference between Catholics and Christians. Although there are some Catholics I would consider Christian, of they display more reliance and faith on Christ alone.

You are all so inward looking, so selfish. Please leave the past. Religion needs to look forward. 1) Gods gift to mankind is the mind, surley! Comes with a moral compass, wonderful emotions and the ability to think and achieve so much 2) Gods has entrusted us with something so beautiful, our planet, so diverse, yet we destroy it more and more each day 3) Religious doctrine has meant 2000 years on we still have no unity, no cohesion, I see ants working together better 4) Look forward not back (bible) for the answers, for surely that is our great test, stop focusing on humans like they are the only species, what does 350ppm mean to you, how are you ensuring we get there, how does continual reflection on the bible help us get there (well it doesnt) the open, ever achieving mind will

I was really enjoying reading the difference and learning a lot about what Catholic and Cristian Teach us. Where and how all of a sudden did this turn in to Homosexuality. I am not interested in your life style or how you live. I just wanted to feel God's presents in all of you.. and all that went out the door.. It's about God not homosexual people or beliefs. I love my God and he loves you. The pain he went through to show us how much he loves ALL of us. God is GOD. He will judge us. I am SO Thankful it will be GOD, not you that judges us. I lost a brother and and sister from cancer recently and I am in glory that they are in a better place with GOD. I was born and raised Catholic, I am A Christian. I am God's child. AMEN

Catholics pray to the apostles and Mary who are all dead people. They can not hear you. Only Jesus can hear your prayers.

Have we forgotten about how Catholics pray to saints?? I would like to know why. Christians do not believe in saints because they are merely other humans appointed by man for their good works. Also, Christians do believe homosexuality is a sin, but they are beginning to understand that even though it is a sin, Jesus loves the lgbt. It's not okay to be gay just like it's not okay to steal or idolize others. God loves all

@ : I consider myself a "cultural Catholic".. I don't necessarily practice as a Catholic but was raised in a very Catholic family and with Catholic traditions... This is one thing that has always bothered me; the assumption that Catholics are praying to saints or to Mary. In reality, we are ASKING them for intercession... To pray for us. Think of it this way... Have you ever asked a friend or family member to pray for you? Its the same thing. For example, we ask Mary to "pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death". We DO NOT ask Mary to grant us grace- she can't because she is not God. But it doesn't hurt to ask for a prayer from someone whose soul is immaculate (as the Mother of God, she is sinless). Also, although Church doctrine states homosexuality is a sin, in my experience, Catholics tend to be more accepting (following the "judge not lest ye be judged" principle). I know several very devout Catholics who are also extremely passionate LGBT activists and supporters. I also personally know many Christians who are virulently anti-LGBT. I do know there are some Protestant churches that accept gays with open arms (which is awesome), but, most Evangelical Christians absolutely do not accept that gays are worthy of Gods love or grace and are much more intolerant than Catholics.

The one thing everyone seems to miss is the rebirth. You are male and female in many forms. When you die you are both and you are neither. You are not judged on your sexual preference of male and female. You are judged with what's in your heart.
